All Work and No Play Makes Mocha a Mopey Dog

Mocha sometimes sits at our feet while we work, waiting patiently for us to play with him. Did I say patiently? I meant impatiently.

He’ll paw at us, jump up and down to try to catch our attention, or curl up and mope. Here he is moping. Sometimes Mommy breaks and leans over to pet him. Then Mocha is all happy wags. But when Daddy is busy, very little can break his attention (except for stealing an occasional photo, heh). All Mocha can do in those cases is mope mope mope.

Sittin ‘n Waitin

Whine whine whine. Woof woof woof woof woof woof. Bark woof woof. Bark bark bark? Bark?

Whine. Woof woof woof. Whine whine whine.

Translated from Dog:

This is boring. I don’t want to just sit here and wait for Mommy to shop. I want to run around and play fetch. Can we play fetch Daddy? Pul-leeze?

Aww poop. I don’t like sitting and waiting. This is boring.

Go to Sleep Already

Whine whine whine. Woof woof. Woof woof woof. Bark bark bark bark bark bark! Sigh!

Translated from Dog:

Aw, c’mon Daddy. It’s late. I know you’re a night owl and all. But turn off the lights and go to sleep already! Sheesh!

Oh Boy, We’re Going for a Ride

Bark bark bark! Woof woof woof. Woof woof woof. Woof woof woof. Yip yip yip!

Translated from Dog:

Oh boy, I love going for rides in the car! Whenever I see Mommy or Daddy open the car door, I jump in happily. It’s always fun to ride in the car with them. Everywhere we go is such an adventure. Oh boy what fun!

Thankful for Mocha

Yesterday’s post made me a little sad. Mocha has been frustrating. He scares our friends and neighbors. His 2AM barks disrupt our sleep. Exercise doesn’t seem to be helping. It has definitely been frustrating.

But for all that we are frustrated with him, we are also very thankful for him. I’ve seen other dogs that are a handful and a half. Mocha has lots of great points. So here is a list of why we are thankful for Mocha:

Head on the Hammock

I have a dog hammock for the back seat of my car. On long road trips, sometimes Mocha likes to rest his head on the edge to try to be as close as he can to Mommy and Daddy. It’s like he’s saying, “What are you guys doing? Can I see?” But then he closes his eyes and falls asleep in that position, just like you see here. Poor tired little guy.

Exercising Mommy and Daddy

Woof woof woof. Yip yip! Woof woof woof. Yip yip yip yip! Woof woof woof. Woof woof woooooof woof.

Woof woof woof. Woof woof woof. Bark bark bark! Bark bark bark!

Woof woof woof. Woof woof woof. Woof woof woof. Snort.

Translated from Dog:

Mommy and Daddy took me to the dog park this morning. Oh boy! Then they took me for a long run. Oh boy oh boy! I think it was three miles. There was so much activity and exercise that I was pooped when I got back home.

But not as pooped as Mommy and Daddy. I think they were more tired than I was. And I ran more than them today! I was running around playing fetch at the dog park!

I think I need to run Mommy and Daddy more often. They need more exercise. I should take them to the human park and make them fetch the ball for me. Tee hee.

Wake Up Daddy, Wake Up!

Bark bark bark! Roof! Woof woof woof. Bark bark bark!

Woof woof woof? Bark woof woof! Woof woof woof. Roof. Woof woof woof? Rowr? Bark bark bark!

Translated from Dog:

Wake up Daddy! Wake up! Look, I brought you a ball. Let’s play Daddy, let’s play!

What, are you still tired? It’s already 6:00 AM in the morning! Don’t tell me you’re going to sleep the whole day away. You slacker. Don’t you want to get up and play ball with me? Puleeeeeze? C’mon Daddy, wake up!

Where’s Daddy Going?

Whine whine whine. Whimper whine whine. Whimper whimper whimper. Whine whine whine. Sniff sniff.

Translated from Dog:

Where’s Daddy going? Why is he leaving me behind? Why didn’t he take me with him? Is he going to come back? Sniff sniff.

P.S. Gee, get a load of the Natural Balance Dog Treats by the window. Nice product placement, huh? That was totally unintentional. Honest.
