Category: Mocha Madness

Today is a sad & happy day. Sad for us because we had to say “Goodbye” to Mocha. Happy for Mocha because he’s found a great new family to take care of him.
We met the other couple today at Mocha’s favorite dog park. He took an instant liking to them, and they to him.
We took our time and searched long & hard for the right family. It makes us so happy to see that we’ve found the right family for him.
As we drove away, we watched Mocha playfully catching & fetching tennis balls with them. He was so happy that he didn’t notice we had left. Part of us wanted him to look over and notice our absence, but part of us also wanted him to be happy with his new family and accept them right away. It seems he will be doing that.
Goodbye Mocha. We love you, will miss you terribly, and will always remember you. We hope & know you will have a wonderful life with your new family!

We’ve been taking Mocha on off-leash hikes lately for family exercise. He absolutely loves them. He loves them so much that he’ll run run run at top speed all over the place.

Unfortunately one day, he got so excited that he ran ran ran – right over a cliff and into this ditch.

We panicked and ran over as quickly as we could, calling out his name frantically. The worst possible scenarios came into our heads. Seconds later, he emerged, unscathed and still smiling like a happy clown. He looked at us as if to say, “What? Chill out guys, I’m okay.” Then he took off and ran ran ran up a hill.
We’re so glad he’s okay. I wish I had a picture or video of him sailing through the air and into the ditch. All we could see was him leap over a mound of grass, then disappear. It was terrifying. So damn terrifying that we just had to laugh.
That’s our little boy. Indestructible (at least, in his own mind) and full of energy.

Bark bark bark! Woof woof woof. Woof woof woof. Woof woof woof. Yip yip!

I love playing catch! Sometimes I’ll jump high for the ball. Other times, I’ll run really fast to get it. And once in a while, I’ll do something goofy like flip in the air or stand up straight to catch it. What fun!

Apparently Mocha is a soccer fan. He’s watching this game intently, even seeming tense when someone’s about to score. Fun game, huh boy?
Goooaaal!

Yesterday’s post made me a little sad. Mocha has been frustrating. He scares our friends and neighbors. His 2AM barks disrupt our sleep. Exercise doesn’t seem to be helping. It has definitely been frustrating.

But for all that we are frustrated with him, we are also very thankful for him. I’ve seen other dogs that are a handful and a half. Mocha has lots of great points. So here is a list of why we are thankful for Mocha:

Sunlight streaks,
Shadow leaks.
Fur-crossed fur,
Warmed rug lure.
Morning rest,
Ah, this is the best.

Woof woof whimper. Woof woof whine.

It’s just too scary out there. Lemme hide under here until the world gets less scary.

This shrewd little puppy outsmarted Mocha a few times. First, he snatched a ball from Mocha. Then the lil guy beat him at tug-of-war.
Damn boy, you letting a two-month year old puppy beat you? Man up! I mean, dog up!

Mocha is not allowed in certain rooms and he’s good about that rule. So when he wants to play, he’ll hang out at the threshold with a ball and give us a sad face. Dawww.

Bark woof woof. Woof woof woof. Rowr woof woof? Bark bark. Woof woof woof. Bark.

Oh, hi there. Didn’t see you there. Is that a camera in your hands? Nice camera. Okay, I’m going back to my ball now. Bye.
